Mark Hamill is up for playing Vesemir in season 2 ofThe Witcheron Netflix, even if he’s not quite sure who the character is. In a Twitter exchange from last year that recently resurfaced on Reddit,The Witchershowrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich wrote about how the Vesemir character should be portrayed, describing him as fatherly, wise, sprightly, and ancient. When the Club Star Wars Twitter account responded by suggesting Hamill for the role, Hamill himself backed this up by offering this amusing reply.
“I have no idea what this is or what it’s about but agree it could/should be played by me.”
Clearly,Mark Hamillhadn’t spent any time playingThe Witchervideo games or reading the original novels when he made that tweet. Still, the aspects of the character seem to have intrigued him, and it probably helps that the series is now out and getting a lot of attention.
It’s also easy to see a physical resemblance between Hamill and the video game version of Vesemir, especially when going by the actor’s appearance inThe Rise of Skywalker, although it’s unclear if Hamill realized this as well when he tweeted his response. Even if Hamill was speaking in jest, his teased interest is nevertheless making a lot of people excited about the concept.
The Witcher Season 2has already been greenlit. Based on the original book series and subsequent video games,The Witcherstars Henry Cavill in the lead role of Geralt of Rivia - a monster hunter in pursuit of his destiny in a medieval world called the Continent. Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Mahesh Jadu, Mimi Ndiweni, Eamon Farren, and Anna Shaffer also star. After premiering on Netflix just days ago,The Witcherhas quickly found its audience and has been generating a lot of discussion. As of now, the series is the highest-rated of every Netflix Original on IMDb, and although that number might change, it gives us a glimpse at just how many people are really enjoying the show.
Netflixhas also made it clear they are very confident in the show’s success, as it was already renewed for a second season a month ahead of the series premiere. This also means there’s still plenty left to explore in the world ofThe Witcher, including the introductions of some other fan favorite characters from the franchise. Vesemir also seems like a role that would be tailor-made for Hamill, but in some form or another, let’s hope we see the character appear in the show’s upcoming second season.
It remains to be seen if Hamill will actually appear onThe Witcher, but for now, we can see the legendary actor portraying one of his most iconic roles of all for the very last time on the big screen. you may catch him as Luke Skywalker inStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is currently playing in theaters everywhere. Of course, now that his time with theStar Warsfranchise is done, that’s all the more reason for him to joinThe Witcher. This news comes to us fromReddit.
