Masters of the Universeused to be one of the most profitable and beloved toylines during the 1980s, but unlike Transformers or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it has struggled to find relevance in the new millennium. But in the 2010s, Netflix made a lot of moves to revamp the brand, thanks toShe-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Kevin Smith’s adult-oriented sequel seriesMasters of the Universe: RevelationsandRevolutions, and the CGI-animated kids seriesHe-Man and the Masters of the Universe. This big-budget feature film is looking to do forMasters of the Universewhat Michael Bay’s firstTransformersmovie did for that franchise. Between the eclectic cast and director Travis Knight’s track record with movies likeBumblebeeandKubo and the Two Strings,Masters of the Universeis already a movie worth watching.
