Mia Goth is an English actress and model whose debut role was in the erotic art filmNymphomaniacin 2013, when she was still a teenager. She would go on to make a name for herself after appearing in several international horror and thriller movies like Gore Verbinski’sA Cure for Wellness(2016) andMarrowbone(2017) from Spanish director Sergio G. Sánchez. Goth’s most recent project was in the slasher filmX, which came out this year, and a prequel film calledPearl, that was filmed at the same time, is also set to release this year.
She met her now-partner Shia LaBeouf, on the set ofNymphomaniac, and the couple recently welcomed their first child in March 2022. So far, Goth has not announced any upcoming projects since the birth of her baby. Though she did appear in the period-romantic comedyEmma.in 2020, it’s clear that Goth is most comfortable in darker roles. The movie was well-received by critics and called “extraordinary, difficult, hypnotic, and repulsive” byVariety. The film stars Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche in the lead roles.

Suspiriais a supernatural horror movie by Luca Guadagnino that is based on the1977 Italian film of the same name. The story centers on an American Mennonite woman who travels to Berlin to attend a prestigious dance school that is run by a coven of witches.Suspiriafailed to wow at the box office and received extremely polarizing opinions from critics. Those that didn’t enjoy the film thought that the witchcraft depicted in the movie was absurd and were overwhelmed by the gore. However, the extensive choreography in the film was praised, as were the performances of lead actresses Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton. Mia Goth played one of the young students at the dance academy, along with Elena Fokina and Chloë Grace Moretz.Suspiriapremiered at the 2018 Venice International Film Festival and has been nominated for close to 50 awards, having won 14 of those.
4Nymphomaniac: Volume II (2013)
Nymphomaniacis a two-part European erotic art film from the acclaimed Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier. The film follows a self-proclaimed nymphomaniac named Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Joe in her older years and Stacy Martin stars as young Joe) who meets a middle-aged man named Seligman (Stellan Skarsgård) and begins regaling him with tales of her sexual exploits. The film boasts a large ensemble cast who play out Joe’s memories. Mia Goth is cast as P, a young woman who becomes Joe’s protégé in her sadomasochistic endeavors, and later, her lover. Von Trier has been widely praised for his vision with the project, and it was nominated for several international awards.Nymphomaniacalso stars Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, and Connie Nielsen, among others.

The Survivalistis a post-apocalyptic thriller directed by Stephen Fingleton, and zeroes in on the experience of three people who fight to feed themselves and survive in a remote cabin. With such a small cast, each actor is able to thoroughly shine. Martin McCann plays the man only known as the survivalist; he enters into an arrangement with a woman named Kathryn (Olwen Fouéré) in which he will let her and her daughter Milja (Mia Goth) live in his cabin in exchange for a sexual relationship with Milja. Soon, Milja finds herself more loyal to the survivalist than to her mother, and moments of callous violence intersperse with solemn contemplations of morality.The Survivalistwon several film festival awards and Stephen Fingleton was widely celebrated as an up-and-coming director. Mia Goth was also nominated for the British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.

Emma.is a 2020 period-drama from director Autumn de Wilde, based on the classic Jane Austen novel of the same name. The film is aregency-eraromantic comedy, and Mia Goth plays Harriet Smith, the governess to the esteemed gentlewoman Emma Woodhouse (Anya Taylor-Joy). The privileged Emma meddles in the love life of her naive new companion and miscommunication inevitably ensues. When asked how starring in a period drama differed from her previous roles, Gothtold Wonderland Magazine, “I think there’s something really replenishing and quite wholesome when you’re on a set such asEmma. . .there was something very therapeutic about it. And something very healing in being able to laugh and create humour on set every day.”Emma.was well received by the public and critics and was nominated for several awards, including the Oscars for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
