Marvel Studios currently has a reboot ofFantastic Fourin the works with a new film set to be released in 2025. Casting is reportedly underway, and while there have been no official announcements made, the rumor mill has long been churning with some different names said to be up for certain roles. The latest rumor that has quickly been generating a lot of chatter on social media is thatMila Kunisis one of the names in consideration to play a genderswapped Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. The rumor apparently stems from a recent tweet from movie scooper@MyTimeToShineH on Twitter. According to the tweet, the production is “looking at Jewish actors, both male AND female for The Thing inFantastic Four.” The post notably adds that Kunis is one those names up for the role. A follow-up tweet claims that director Matt Shakman insisted upon hiring someone Jewish for that particular character. That’s likely because Ben Grimm is specifically depicted as Jewish in many Marvel comic books.
This is not quite an official announcement from Marvel Studios, but it is starting to get the attention ofTMZand other media outlets. It’s also starting to trend with thousands on social media weighing in on the rumor. Some fans are totally on board with the idea of a genderswapped Thing, and there are a lot of tweets praising the left-field idea of putting Kunis in this role. Of course, there are others who aren’t quite so sold on the idea of Kunis as The Thing.

“People need to understand that we have had four adaptations of the Fantastic 4 and all of them crashed and burned,” writes one fan on Twitter. “So yes, I am all for Mila Kunis as The Thing because at this point you have to do something different.”
Someone else similarly stated, “We’ve seen a few versions of Ben Grimm, so if they bring in Mila Kunis as Sharon Ventura’s version of the Thing that would be different and a nice new dynamic for the team. Also she’s a great actress. I’d love to see something like that.”
Meanwhile, another tweet reads, “Marvel Studios is eyeing Mila Kunis to play the role of The Thing in MCU’s Fantastic Four. No hate to Mila but if this happens then it’s going to be a disaster. Idk how to explain but this would NEVER work.”
“Can we calm down for a moment? There’s no chance that Marvel Studios will cast Mila Kunis as The Thing for their upcoming Fantastic Four movie,” predicts someone else. “Not only would that be one of the most bizarre castings of all time, they have to know the extreme backlash that would cause.”

Who Will Be the New Fantastic Four?
The rumor mill likely won’t stop putting forth names until there are official announcements to be made by Marvel Studios or the filmmakers. Recently, there have been more rumors of Adam Driver in talks to play Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic. His name has been rumored to be up for the role going back for months. Back in February, it was notably reported thatMila Kunis had met with director Matt Shakman, and while that fueled casting rumors, many were assuming it’d be for the role of Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, or perhaps another character. There probably weren’t many people feeling sure that she was actually up for the role of The Thing.
In any case,Fantastic Fouris set to be released in movie theaters in 2025.
