The young monsters will be going back to school as Nickelodeon has officially renewed thenew animated series adaptation ofMonster High. After premiering in October, just in time for the spooky holiday season, the series has scored this renewal ahead of the first season’s finale on Dec. 1. PerDeadline, season 2 will consist of 20 new episodes, and the second season has been described as delving further into character backgrounds and “continue expanding on the theme of friendship.”
“Monster Highis an iconic franchise that continues to connect with fans around the globe because of its creativity, relatable characters, and authenticity,” Claudia Spinelli, Nickelodeon’s SVP of Big Kids Animation, said of the renewal. “We can’t wait to continue to work alongside our partners at Mattel to bring even more animated stories to life surrounding the most-famous teen monsters around.”
Monster Highfeatures the voices of Gabrielle Nevaeh Green as Clawdeen Wolf, Iris Menas as Frankie Stein, Courtney Lin as Draculaura, Tony Revolori as Deuce Gorgon, Kausar Mohammed as Cleo de Nile, Valeria Rodriguez as Lagoona Blue and Spectra Vondergeist, Alexa Kahn as Toralei Stripe, Alexander Polinsky as Heath Burns, and Felica Day as Ghoulia Yelps.
Based on the characters created by Mattel, the animated series was created by Shea Fontana, who serves as showrunner and co-executive producer. Fred Soulie is executive producing with Christopher Kenan for Mattel Television.

Monster High: The Movie Will Also Get a Follow-Up
October also saw the separate premiere ofa live-action adaptationon Paramount+ and Nickelodeon.Monster High: The Movie, which was directed by Todd Holland and followed live-action incarnations of the familiar characters, was also considered to be a hit. Shortly before the premiere of the animated series on Nickelodeon, it was announced thatMonster High: The Movie 2would also be happening. The sequel will begin filming in January with plans to debut the movie later in 2023, likely again sometime during the Halloween season.

Holland directedMonster High: The Movieusing a screenplay by Jenny Jaffe, Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland. The first film starred Miia Harris, Ceci Balagot, Nayah Damasen, Case Walker, and Kyle Selig.
Season 2 ofMonster Highdoesn’t yet have a premiere date set at Nickelodeon, andMonster High: The Movie 2similarly doesn’t have a premiere date at this time.
