While audiences tuning into the series may have expected a happy, all-is-well ending, the series does throw some last-minute twists at viewers.

Running Point
Do the Waves Win the Championship in ‘Running Point’?
Throughout the series, the primary goal of the Los Angeles Waves team is to make it to the playoffs and win the championship. A primary question for viewers duringRunning Pointis whether the Waves will make their way to victory. Given the genre that the series fits into, audiences were hopeful of a positive outcome. The team perseveres through multiple challenges, including a coach who gets suspended and a major player, Travis Bugg, needing to enter rehab due to substance abuse, to make their way to the playoffs.
In a nail-bitingly tense playoff game, with the clock down to its last few seconds and the Waves in the lead, the opposing team makes an almost impossible seeming shot to win the game. The Waves lose the championship just as the buzzer goes off. As Isla puts it, “in a good sports movie, the heroine who was underestimated, punched in the face, would have won the big game.” However, in a twist, this is not what happens inRunning Point. While the loss is heartbreaking, the end result of the game seems to convey the message that, despite being a comedy,Running Point, as a series, does not simply focus on surface-level laughs, but touches on heavier themes.

Do Lev and Isla End Up Together in ‘Running Point’?
Lev Levenson (Max Greenfield), is introduced to viewers as Isla’s fiancé of three years, having been together for a total of six years.A pediatrician by career, Lev is a kind, understanding and supportive fiancé, standing by Isla as she battled through some of the most tumultuous challenges that came her way. Most signs seemed to indicate that the duo would get their happily ever after. Except for one specific sign: Waves' head coach, Jay Brown.
In the penultimate episode ofRunning Point,Lev ends things with Isla. He expresses that he has had enough of feeling left behind, and as though Isla chooses everything to do with the Waves team over him. Lev moves out of their home and Isla is left lost and brokenhearted. Giving fans a glimmer of hope, Isla decides to get Lev back when she hears that he is moving to Minnesota. In a romantic gesture, she crashes Lev’s workplace. However, the visit does not yield the outcome she hoped for.Lev tells Isla that she will have to do the thing that she hates the most — wait.

Kate Hudson Has Something To Say to Critics Who Slammed Her Slate of Rom-Coms
Kate Hudson, who has starred in her fair share of romantic comedies over the years, is defending them from critics who gave them negative reviews.
Lev’s refusal to rekindle the relationship right away and him not turning up at the big game possibly indicate that Isla’s efforts are too little too late. The relationship status between the former couple is further complicated by the connection between Isla and coach Jay. Although a full-blown romance never occurs, the show indicates that Isla and Jay share feelings for each other. This is further established when the duo share a confusing kiss in the series finale. Both leave the encounter looking uncertain of what occurred, leaving audiences with their own burning questions.Does this mean that Lev and Isla never get back together? Will Jay still move to Boston? Only a future season will tell.

What Does Cam’s Return Mean for Isla in ‘Running Point’?
Running Pointdrops yet another bombshell during the last four minutes of the season finale. Isla, shaken by the events of the previous night but still confident in herself and her abilities, walks into her office, ignoring Jackie’s attempts to stop her. However, an empty office is not what greets her.Cam, having returned from rehab, occupies the seat behind the desk, greeting a gobsmacked Isla with “Hey, what’s up, sis? I’m back.”
Cam’s return does not bode well for Isla and her presidency. Although Cam voluntarily names his sister president, choosing her to lead the team over his brother, the progression of the series shows that Cam gradually grows jealous of his sister’s success. It is likely that when handing over the reins to Isla, Cam did not expect her to actually succeed in the role.

Netflix Boss Explains Why Traditional Sitcoms Like ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Are Still Big Business
Ted Sarandos explains why he’s still on board for multi-cam comedies.
It is revealed that Cam is the leak who provided information to a talk show host regarding the trade of the Waves' most valuable player, Marcus Winfield. He also bribes his rehabilitation center so that he is released early. The eldest Gordon sibling clearly harbors a fair amount of jealousy and has already attempted to sabotage Isla and her progress with the team. What he may do in the future and what it may mean for Isla’s role within the Waves remains to be seen. However, one thing is quite likely: it will not be favorable for Isla.
Givenits cliffhanger ending, audiences can most probably expect aRunning PointSeason 2. However, Netflix has not offered any official confirmation regarding a renewal of the series at the time of writing. If at all a new season is confirmed, it will likely not take to the screens at least until 2026.
