Over the weekend, Sony Pictures released a briefpreviewthat revealed the first full trailer for the long-awaitedGhostbustersreboot will debut on Thursday, March 3. While we didn’t get a glimpse at too much footage in that video, we did see several military soldiers and law enforcement personnel get ready for a gigantic battle, although we’re still not quite clear who they’re actually battling. We may have gotten another clue today, with Instagram userPixelDanposting a photo from the New York Toy Fair that reveals a new villain dubbed Rowan, whose name was confirmed by a Mattel rep at the event.

As you can see in the photo and video below, this ghostvillainnamed Rowan is quite familiar, as he actually resembles the ghost from the iconic ‘No Ghosts’ logo. Very little is known about this ghost, but the Mattel rep revealed that each of the action figures based on the main characters will come with a special piece, and fans who collect all four figures will be able to create Rowan. Unfortunately, we don’t have much to go on as to why Rowan is the villain, but it does bring up an interesting possibility.

Ghostbusters

In the original 1984 classicGhostbusters, the iconic Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was conjured after Gozer was destroyed. The ghost’s voice then told theGhostbustersteam that the next thing they think of will manifest itself and destroy the world.Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz decides to think of the Stay Puft marshmallow logo, thinking this creature couldn’t do much harm, but he was sorely mistaken. It’s possible that thisreboothas a similar scenario, where Rowan is conjured through one of the newGhostbusters' thoughts, after looking at their logo.

The story centers on Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), who, years ago, wrote a book that posited ghosts do in fact exist. The plot picks up with Erin acquiring a teaching position at the prestigious Columbia University, but she is laughed out of academia once word of her book surfaces. At the same time, Abby is working with a new partner, Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon), just as a new slew of ghosts begin to invade New York City. Erin ends up joining forces with Abby and Jillian, along with a new partner Patty (Leslie Jones), to save the Big Apple from these ghosts.

Paul Feigdirects from a script he co-wrote withKatie Dippold, with originalGhostbustersdirectorIvan Reitmanproducing alongsideDan Aykroyd. The supporting cast includesAndy Garciaas the mayor of New York City,Michael K. Williamsas Hawkins,Matt Walshas Rourke, Pat Kiernan as a news anchor andNeil Caseyas the human villain. No details have been given for any of these supporting characters at this time. They will also be joined by a number of originalGhostbustersstars. Take a look at this new photo of Rowan, along with a video where a Mattel rep breaks down their newGhostbustersline ofaction figures. If you look closely, you’ll also see Slimer in toy form, and he looks just like he did in the 1984 original.
