Netflix has released a new behind-the-scenes video from the production ofOne PieceSeason 2 that unveils a fan-favorite character heading to the pirate adventure series. Based on Eiichiro Oda’s record-breaking manga, the Netflix adaptation plans to keep a trend established by the first season after the production got upgraded for Season 2, which recently wrapped filming in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ty Keogh, who plays Dalton during the Drum Island arc, answered a few questions about the upcoming season ofOne Piece. His character, a brave warrior that becomes an ally for the Straw Hats, is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit user that is able to turn into a giant human-esque Bison. Although Arlong was done practically in the first season, some speculated that a towering figure like Dalton’s Zoan form would have to be done with CGI, just like howTony Tony Chopper is expected to be computer-generated. But Netflix is keeping things real this time around for Dalton. The actor shows off a practical costume that resembles a bison’s head, confirming what a lot of fans had long suspected. ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Release Date May Upset Fans
As of this writing, Netflix has yet to confirm a release date forOne PieceSeason 2. The action adventure series was mysteriously absent from the streamer’s 2025 slate announcementearlier this year, along with other titles includingThe GentlemenandAvatar: The Last Airbender. It’s been speculated that the second season ofOne Piecewill arrive on Netflix in early 2026 as a result of the extensive post-production process, which is set to feature much more digital effects than last season. Yes, characters like Dalton will be practical, but Chopper, who will have a big role moving forward, could prove to be a costly, but worthwhile addition.
Of course, the show’s absence from Netflix’s slate doesn’t rule out a late 2025 release window completely. After all, series star Vincent Regan, who plays Garp, teased that they were lookingto release Season 2 during Christmaslater this year as the show preps to shoot Season 3. It would be quite an appropriate holiday as a good chunk of the new episodes will take place on a winter island featuring a talking reindeer. His quote:

“I’ve come back from South Africa now. I’ve filmed season 2, everything my character is doing in season 2 is finished, and now they are finishing in about a month, I think they’ll finish filming. So I think the show will be ready for Netflix before Christmas next year. I hope. And I guess they’ll start filming season 3 pretty soon, and I think they are doing- I think it’s called the Albasta story arc. I think it’s going to take two seasons. What I’ve seen of the designs, drawings, and when I was there there was some really fun stuff being shot there at the moment."
