Ocean's Eight Begins Shooting in NYC with Sandra Bullock & Cate Blanchett

The film is set for release in Summer 2018 and will be distributed worldwide byWarner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

We first reported on thisall-female spin-offlast October, with that initial report revealing that the story originated fromOcean’s ElevenstarGeorge Clooney, directorSteven Soderberghand late producerJerry Weintraub. This trio reportedly brought on writerOlivia Milch(Town & Country) to write the script. There was talk thatGeorge Clooneymay put in a cameo appearance as Danny Ocean, but it seems that isn’t happening, although it’s possible he could return in a potential sequel.

The story centers onSandra Bullock’s character, who assembles a team to steal a coveted necklace from the Met Ball, while framing a gallery owner for the crime, although those plot details have not yet been confirmed.Cate Blanchettis reportedly playing the right-hand woman ofBullock’s character, similar toBrad Pitt’s Rusty in theOcean’s Eleventrilogy.Ocean’s Eightis set for release on June 29, 2025, going up against Paramount’sTransformers 6, while also arriving one week before Disney Pixar’s long-awaitedToy Story 4and two weeks before Universal’sJurassic World 2.
