On the surface, Brooks’s small role could be considered nothing more than “fan service" and something that is purely comical. Whereas, in actuality, such a small cameo shows the intelligence and charm ofOMITB. These big-name appearances (Like Brooks) are not meant to just help solve the mystery. Instead, these small supporting roles force the main characters to learn about themselves. Without those appearances, the show’s central mysteries might not ever be solved satisfyingly.
Matthew Broderick and Mel Brooks are easily the best cameos in season 3. While they provide laughs, their inclusion means something more. Both cameos help our heroes uncover truths about themselves.
