Earlier this year, Starz revealed thatOutlander Season 3will premiere in September, which marks a bit of a delay since the second second debuted last April and ended last July. That report revealed production has spanned from September 2016, wrapping in June 2017, with the show’s loving fans calling this delay the “Droughtlander.” Earlier today, Starz helped make this Droughtlander more bearable by releasing the first official trailer, which gives us a glimpse at Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) return to her old life.

Starz’sCarmi Zlotniksaid in February that she felt it was important to give the production the extra time they needed to adapt the third book inDiana Gabaldon’s fantasy novel series, entitledVoyager, with production moving from its base in Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa. The Cape Town portion of the production will utilize sets previously used by another Starz series,Black Sails, for a number of “pivotal sea voyage scenes.” This season will mark the biggest challenge for Claire and Jaime yet, as they’re both separated by hundreds of years.

In Season Three ofOutlander, the story picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant with Jamie’s child, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies). Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love.

The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries,Claire and Jamiemust find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?
