Paddingtonis ready for another epic adventure. The famous bear is making his way back to the big screen inPaddington 3, which finally has an official release date and title. Created by British author Michael Bond in 1958, Paddington Bear is the protagonist of a children’s book series of which more than 100 stories have been published, and remains an icon of British literature. After several television adaptations, Paddington came to the big screen in 2014 with director Paul King behind the project, who also directed the sequel released in 2017.

The third part of the series was announced right after the release of the second film, with Dougal Wilson replacing King in this new adventure that will take place in South America. On Monday,Sony Picturesconfirmed that the new movie, now officially titledPaddington in Peru, will hit theaters on August 22, 2025.

The firstPaddingtonfilm features a young, idealistic bear who lives deep in the Peruvian jungle with his uncles. After an encounter with an English explorer, they instill in the young bear a great love for British culture, making him dream of living an incredible adventure in London. Which leads him to travel as a stowaway on a ship to the old continent to fulfill his dream, where he meets the Brown family.

In the sequel, Paddington is living a happy life in London, and decides to take some small jobs to save money to buy his Aunt Lucy an old book to send to her for her birthday. However, when the store where the book was found is robbed, Paddington will live an incredible adventure to recover it.

The third film in the franchise takes the friendly bear back to Peru to visit his aunt Lucy, who now lives in a bear retirement home. Paddington will travel with the Brown family, taking them on what seemed like just an innocent visit, but which ends up becoming an incredible journey full of adventures, mysteries and unexpected discoveries through the Amazon rainforest to the highest peaks of Peru.

Ben Whishaw, known for hisperformances in theJames Bondfranchiseand the acclaimed seriesA Very English Scandal, returns to voice Paddington as he did in the first two films.Harry PotterandThe Crownstar Imelda Stauton will also return to play Aunt Lucy. Another returning stars are Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Samuel Joslin, Jim Broadbent, and Antonio Banderas.

Joining the franchise for the first time is Emily Mortimer, known forScream 3,Match PointandMary Poppins Returns. She’ll play Mary Brown, taking Sally Hawkins' place. Spanish actress Carla Tous, from Alex de la Iglesia30 Coinsand Netflix teen dramaThrough My Window: Across The Sea, will replace Rachel Zegler who was going to play Gina Cabot in the movie. Last but not least, another great star joiningPaddington in Peruis theAcademy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman, who will play a character known as Reverend Mother.
