Alexander Payne (Sideways,Nebraska) returns to theaters with a sci-fi twist.Downsizingis a heart-felt comedy that takes less is more to the extreme. It posits a world where science can shrink biological matter to mere centimeters. This allows for humans to “downsize” and reap the benefits of “going small”. The rub being that the process is irreversible. The film sticks to Payne’s usual exploration of the common man’s issues. I found the first half ofDownsizingto be tremendously entertaining....

TheDune trailerfor director Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic finally dropped yesterday, giving us our first glimpse at the beautifully gloomy atmosphere and complexly plotted desert action that is destined to light up cinemas come the end of the year. Aside from the various character introductions, the trailer also debuted the first footage of the infamous sandworms, and fans can’t get enough of the beastly fellows. The introduction to thesandworm, also known in the novel as “Makers” or “Shai-Hulud”, was really the only way to end the highly anticipated trailer and has fans very excited to see more....

The history ofDCon film has been a weird one. Since the release ofSuperman: The Movieback in 1978, Warner Bros. spent 30 years only being interested in developing movies based on Superman and Batman, with the rare exception ofSwamp ThingorConstantine. The long-gestatingFrasierrevival might have finally found its home at Paramount+. For years, franchise star Kelsey Grammer has been rather open about his desire to reprise the role of Frasier Crane in a new spinoff series. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a series revival is “under consideration” at Paramount+, the new streaming service that will replace CBS All Access in March. Both Paramount+ and CBS Studios, the potential producer of the series, have declined to comment....

Momentum Pictures has debuted the first trailer, poster and photos forFun Mom Dinner, which premieres in select theaters, On Demand and on Digital HD August 4th. Jim Jarmusch’sGhost Dogcame out of left field and introduced Forest Whitaker as a silent warrior nearly 20 years ago, and now, rumblings ofGhost Dog 2have started to get louder. Back in November of last year, Wu-Tang Clan rapper and producer RZA revealed that he was working on the sequel and announced that both Jarmusch and Whitaker would be returning. There’s been a bit of a shake-up with Sony’sBloodshotmovie. The Valiant Comics adaptation has been in the works for some time now and just recently kicked off production, as announced by star Vin Diesel on Instagram. Now, just as filming has gotten underway, one of the core cast members, Michael Sheen, has been forced to exit the project. He’s set to be replaced byGuy Pearce, who entered the situation in a hurry as the studio was in need of a replacement rather quickly....
