December is going to be a very good month for sci-fi. Yes, we are gettingRogue One: A Star Wars Story, but in the know sci-fi fans are also very much looking forward toPassengers, the largely mysterious sci-fi movie starringChris PrattandJennifer Lawrence. The mystery is starting to unravel, as we have finally got our first look at some footage.

Earlier today, theTwitteraccount forPassengersposted a teaser for the first actual trailer, which is going to drop tomorrow. While the tease is only 9 seconds long, it does give us a few good glimpses of what we can expect, such asChris PrattandJennifer Lawrencekissing, a cool looking spaceship and some very intense music. Here is what the tweet said about the footage and the upcoming trailer.

The story ofPassengerstakes place on a “luxury interstellar spaceship,” with 5,000 passengers taking a journey to the Homestead II colony, which is conveniently located 120 years away. That being the case, everyone is traveling in suspended animation. Things get tricky whenChris PrattandJennifer Lawrence’s characters are mistakenly awakened 90 years too early, they discover that the ship is malfunctioning, putting everyone in danger.

Production took place in Atlanta last year, withChris PrattandJennifer Lawrencesomehow squeezing the movie in between other massive blockbusters they are starring in.Passengersis a movie that has reportedly been in the works for more than a decade, with the script winding up on The Black List in 2007. For those who may not know, TheBlack Listis a list of the best un-produced scripts floating around Hollywood. The script was written byPrometheusscreenwriterJon Spaihts. It just took arguably the two of the biggest stars on the planet to finally get the movie made.

Passengersmay have some serious star power, but it will be facing some serious competition at the box office. It is opening against the video game adaptationAssassin’s Creed, which also has some star power in the form ofMichael FassbenderandMarion Cotillard. It will also be opening just five days afterRogue One: A Star Wars Story, which will surely still be raking in big money in its second week.Passengerswas directed byMorten Tyldumwho directed the Oscar-nominatedThe Imitation Game.
