Since being introduced to thefranchise inPokemon Journeys: The Series, Goh has proven to be an avid collector of Pokémon. With over 100 Pokémon under his belt, Goh is on a journey to try and capture the legendary Pokémon, Mew. Having witnessed many fantastic events, Goh’s experience in Pokémon battling still leaves much to be desired.
While Ash has promised to one day become a true Pokémon master, Goh simply wishes to catch one of every Pokémon imaginable. He’s already made a considerable amount of progress. Despite there being 905 confirmed species of Pokémon, with more undoubtedly on the way giventhe franchise’s massive success, Goh has managed to capture a large variety, including some legendaries. But if Goh were to join the Masters' Tournament, one only needs to look at hisextensive rosterto determine the best six candidates for his team.

Being caught as a Sobble, Goh had taken to being very protective of the crying Pokémon. With Sobble starting as a coward, Goh would help teach them to use hit-and-run tactics, leading to Sobble learning the move U-Turn. Evolving into Drizzile, Sobble would initially become depressed, but, with Goh’s support, came to focus on improving their battle prowess. After defending Goh from a thief, Drizzile would evolve into Inteleon and become the best sharpshooter on Goh’s team. With Inteleon’s cool demeanor under pressure and strong accuracy, Inteleon would make an excellent addition to the team. Staying loyally by Goh’s side, Inteleon could have improved enough to snipe Leon’s Charizard out of the sky.
5Heracross
This selection could prove popular to viewers, with Heracross being one of the more popular additions in the second generation of Pokémon. Goh had received Heracross after trading a Pinsir with Kricketina Kylie. Goh had done this to make his original Pinsir happy, as Pinsir and Heracross had fallen in love. While Heracross' addition to the roster may have been fueled by sentimentality, Ash can attest to how powerful such a Pokémon could be. Recognized as both a bug and fighting type, Heracross has been known to knock down trees that are triple its size. Goh’s Heracross knows a variety of moves, such as Megahorn and Aerial Ace, which can help it take down a large variety of foes. This is a trait that Goh would need when being faced with such Pokémon masters like Cynthia.
Absol is a powerful Pokémon that is often blamed for upcoming misfortunes. Goh recognized that this was because Absol could warn others of said misfortune and not because Absol was their cause. Goh and Ash had worked with Absol to save Lavaridge Town from an erupting volcano. Absol was set to be blasted by the hot pressurized water, but Goh, acting on instinct, captured Absol to protect it inside of a Pokeball. Goh had offered to release Absol, but Absol would stay by Goh’s side. This intense loyalty and commitment to saving others would make Absol an invaluable teammate. While audiences have yet to see Absol’s entire move-set, it is a pure dark type, proving to be a good foil for Diantha’s Gardevoir and Gourgeist.

3Aerodactyl
Goh had revived Aerodactyl from old fossilized amber. Aerodactyl would proceed to go on a rampage as its restoration had been interrupted before full completion. Refusing to give up on the fossil Pokémon, Goh helped to calm the flying creature and captured it. Goh would then prove to be very adept at training Aerodactyl, having grown comfortable enough with them to fly on their back. Aerodactyl has been seen using very powerful moves that its species usually wouldn’t learn on their own, an excellent example of Goh’s progress as a trainer. With moves such as Dragon Breath and Iron Head, Aerodactyl may prove to be an impressive ace, flying high in the skies with Iris & Lance’s dragons.
Other characters' use of legendary Pokémon has been questioned heavily. Such as whenTobias swept Ash’s teamwith only two Pokémon, those Pokémon being Latios and Darkrai. However, with that precedent set, Goh has officially captured Suicune, and Suicune has shown a level of obedience to Goh’s commands, so Suicune would qualify for this list and is an easy pick to be added to Goh’s Pokémon Masters team. Goh had captured Suicune without malicious intent, trying to save the Pokémon from hunters. Inspired by Goh’s selfless actions, Suicune elected to stay as Goh’s Pokémon while still roaming the world and protecting Pokémon as needed. With such a powerful creature at his disposal, Goh can stand out amongst other trainers with pseudo-legendaries such as Leon’s Dragapult and Steven’s Metagross.

1Cinderace
Goh’s first true partner, Cinderace, had been by Goh’s side since it was just a Scorbunny. Initially refusing to capture Scorbunny, Goh wanted Mew to be his first-ever Pokémon. But upon seeing how much Scorbunny wished to be his friend, Goh relented and began his new journey of capturing every single Pokémon, much toProfessor Cirise’s amused surprise. Scorbunny was constantly trying to improve, with Goh helping them along the way, even teaching them a new way to use the move Ember.
After evolving into Raboot and working through their differences, Cinderace would reach its final evolution and help Goh survive battles amongst the gods, such as Dialga and Palkia. Cinderace isthe Pikachu to Goh’s Ash. If Goh is set to do battle in the tournament, Cinderace is the most likely person to stand by his side. And with its speed and power, it makes a great cap to Goh’s dream Pokémon team.
