Rachel McAdamsis set to star inDoctor Strangeand there had been quite a bit of speculation that she would be taking on the role of Night Nurse. At the moment,Rosario Dawsonis playing a character named Claire Temple on the Netflix Marvel series who is more or less Night Nurse and according toKevin Feige,Rachel McAdamswon’t be stepping on her turf. The dividing lines between Marvel TV and Marvel movies are still a bit unclear, but at least for the moment we won’t have two versions of the same character.

Marvel Studios is in full-blown promotion mode forDoctor Strangeright now. So, Marvel Studios PresidentKevin Feigedid an interview withEntertainment Weeklyand was asked about the possibility ofRachel McAdamstaking up the mantle of Night Nurse at some point. Here is what he had to say about it.

“I will say that that story line does not play into the movie. It’s just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about that.”

Rachel McAdamsis playing Christine Palmer inDoctor Strange, a love interest to Stephen Strange in the comics. More importantly, Christine Palmer was the third person to take on the mantle ofNight Nursein the comics.Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, on the other hand, though she is pretty much Night Nurse on the Netflix shows was never actually Night Nurse in the comics. So, this whole thing is a bitweirdbut at least, for now, the issue has been put to bed.

Kevin Feigedidn’t totally rule out the possibility ofChristine Palmerbecoming Night Nurse down the road, he is saying that at least in the story of this firstDoctor Strange movieit isn’t a factor. There have been some fairly clear dividing lines between the TV side and movie side of Marvel, so ifRachel McAdamswere revealed as Night Nurse in the movie it would sort of create a bit more of an obvious divide in that both universes would have a version of the same character.Daredevilseason 1 showrunnerSteven DeKnightdid reveal a while back that he originally wanted to castRosario Dawsonas Christine Palmer, but Marvel Studios made it clear they had plans for the character.

Aside fromRachel McAdams, theDoctor Strangecast is is being headlined byBenedict Cumberbatch, who is playing Stephen Strange. The supporting cast also includesTilda Swinton,Chiwetel Ejiofor,Michael Stuhlbarg,Amy Landecker,Scott AdkinsandMads Mikkelsen. The movie was directed byScott Derrickson, who also directed the horror flickSinister.Doctor Strangeis set to hit theaters on November 4.
