The most wonderful time of the year is almost here, andRyan Reynoldsis ready to celebrate like never before, using his creative ideas to promote some of the brands he owns in an effective and fun way. And, to do so, he has brought in another great star with whom he shared the screen years ago. Long before he put on Deadpool’s red spandex suit, even before he put on Green Lantern’s powerful ring, Reynolds was one of the undisputed kings of comedy and, in particular, of rom-coms. The most remembered one may beThe Proposal, which he starred in with Sandra Bullock, but his path within the genre began in 2005 withJust Friends, a Christmas movie in which he starred alongsideAmy Smart. And now, almost 20 years later, the actors reunite to celebrate Christmas once again…and promote Aviation Gin.
Taking to social media, Reynolds shared a video of him and Smart shooting an ad for Aviation Gin to celebrate Thanksgiving. But, of course, the video is played for laughs in the style of the actor’s well-known brand of humor. The ad sees the actors briefly reprise their Just Friends roles, and will surely be the first of several that Reynolds releases as Christmas approaches. Check out the ad below:

InJust Friends, Reynolds plays Chris Brander, a teenager who was bullied at school for his looks, but has grown up to become an attractive and successful artist manager for a major company. While trying to get a famous singer (Anna Faris) to sign with them, Chris takes her to visit his family for Christmas, although he hasn’t visited his hometown in years and hasn’t seen his mother, his younger brother, and his best friend, whom he was madly in love, Jamie Palamino (Smart), in a long time either.
His reunion with Jamie rekindles all his feelings, but it won’t be easy trying to win her over with Faris' character demanding Chris' attention, and an old friend trying to win Jamie over too. The movie also stars Chris Klein, Christopher Marquette, Julie Hagerty, Stephen Root, Fred Ewanuick, and Amy Matysio.

Just Friends
It may not be one of the most notable titles in the actor’s filmography, especially considering that in recent years he has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood after the enormous success achieved with the firstDeadpoolmovie and its sequel, butJust Friendsmarked a before and after in Reynolds' career. BeforeJust Friends, Reynolds had largely appeared inmostly silly comedies, with the likes ofBlade: TrinityandThe Amityville Horrorbeing outliers.Just Friendswas released in 2005, and the project was a major stepping stone towards the tippy top of Hollywood for the actor. Projects that followed include the action comedySmokin' AcesandThe Nines, a psychological thriller. In 2008, Reynolds returned to the romantic comedy genre withDefinitely, Maybe, and again in 2009 withThe Proposal.

That same year, he starred alongside Hugh Jackman inX-Men Origins: Wolverine, which would later lead him to try for years to bring Deadpool to the big screen again, which he managed to do in 2016. And the rest, as they say, is history, with Reynolds and Jackman all set tojoin forces once again forDeadpool 3, which is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 23, 2025, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
