Becoming the Sorcerer Supreme is no easy task. Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) thought he had it in the bag. Unfortunately, he found himself blipped out of existence (along with half of the universe’s population) when Thanos snapped his fingers while wearing a gauntlet studded with Infinity Stones. As such, the position went to an equally qualified magical individual, the librarian at the Masters of the Mystic Arts' headquarters, Kamar-Taj,Wong(Benedict Wong).
Wong was first introduced in the originalDoctor Strangefilm. He helps the recently injured Doctor learn about the art of magic, and ever since, he has been an invaluable part of the Avenger’s battles against intergalactic enemies. Most recently, Wong made an appearance inShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Wong’s stone-faced demeanor has long been a source of laughs for MCU fans, and he is a perfect fit with the meta, tongue-in-cheekcomedic stylingsof the show. In fact, when audiences got a glimpse at Wong’s resume, as posted on an internet job forum, it was revealed that the Sorcerer Supreme had a more humble career before delving into the world of magic; for nine years, he wasa Target sales associate.

As it’s unlikely the character will disappear from the series after a one-off appearance, what will Wong’s role be inShe-Hulkseason one?
She-Hulk Could Get a Taste of Multiversal Madness
Prior toShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Wong’s most recent appearance in the MCU was in 2022’sDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film introduced America Chavez, portrayed by Xochitl Gomez. Chavez has the ability to open interdimensional portals with her fists, which made it considerably easier for all of our favorite MCU characters to travel around the multiverse. At the end of the film, Wong decides to keep her at Kamar-Taj, in order to help her harness her powers and to keep her safe. As such, it stands to reason that any show that features Wong could also feature Chavez.

Though the events ofShe-Hulktake place before the events of the newestDoctor Strangefilm, the multiverse is a complicated thing, and it is possible that Wong will introduce Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) to the concept of alternate dimensions before the first season has concluded. Given how the titular attorney has reacted to her initial interactions with the weird world of superheroes, seeing her dabble inmultiversal travelwill undoubtedly lead to many hilarious moments.
A Convenient Spell Could Get She-Hulk Out of a Tight Spot
Wong is an incredibly talented spell-caster, which makes sense, given his position as Sorcerer Supreme. MCU audiences have seen him utilize spells that alter the very fabric of the universe. Wong is generally cautious about using powerful incantations, unlike his friend Doctor Strange, who will seemingly use any excuse to change the timeline. MCU fans saw this when he brought a whole host of alternate reality villains into existence inSpider-Man: No Way Home.

If She-Hulk ever finds herself in a pickle, there is always the possibility that Wong will be able to resolve the situation after the fact if he deems it necessary. If, for example, the character finds herself once again out of a job due to her exploits as her green alter ego, it is within Wong’s power to make the world forget that Jennifer Walters is the She-Hulk. He could utilize a spell similar to that which made the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Wong Could Join She-Hulk in Battle
She-Hulkwill have her hands full as the show’s first season continues. The most recent episode of the series introduced audiences to the Wrecking Crew, a gang of thugs armed with Asgardian technology. Additionally, Jennifer Walters will likely have to once again contend withJameela Jamil’s Titaniain future episodes. She will need some equally talented allies to defeat these and possibly other formidable enemies.
Wong has proven capable of battling the most powerful characters in the MCU. If any of She-Hulk’s foes prove too difficult for the attorney to take on alone, he could help level the playing field.

Wong will undoubtedly be featured in future episodes ofShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Audiences were excited to see the character return and to finally get some closure surrounding hisbattle with AbominationinShang-Chi.Wong has taken a place in the MCU that dramatically exceeds his previous status as simply a side character in theDoctor Strangefilms. His wisdom, coupled with his magical abilities, will make him an invaluable ally to Walters. Given Wong’s affinity for Beyoncé, perhaps his role in the series could even bring about another appearance from a musical celebrity guest.
