ForSaturday Night Live, it’s horrifying to think about 2024’s presidential election. On Saturday night’s new episode of the sketch comedy series, which featured Jack Harlow pulling double duty as host and musical guest, there was a segment edited in the style of a horror movie trailer. It depicts a group of left-leaning friends thinking ahead to the election after hearing of reports that Joe Biden might not go for a second term, scaring them immensely while they think about the other potential nominees they’d have to vote for.

In the faux trailer, the Democratic voters express their concern about Biden running again in 2024 after learning he’ll be 81 years old by then. While they praise Biden for a lot of the work he has done as president, one of them points out that he “fell off his bike once,” referring to a viral video of the leader of that nation having a mishap with a bicycle.
“But if Biden’s not gonna run… who will?” Chloe Fineman asks.

As they discuss some of the other options, each name is treated as a horrifying idea as someone they’d want to run for president. With horror movie trailer tropes, the bit takes aim at other Democratic politicians like Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Beto O’Rourke, and Hillary Clinton. A reference to now-independent Senator Bernie Sanders is also made in the form of his first name spelled out in blood on the wall. By the end, they all end up coming back around to Biden.
“Sometimes your best option is the one you fear the most,” the trailer narrator concludes.

Saturday Night Live Will Be There to Spoof the Whole Thing
No matter who’s running for president in 2024, we can presume that the election will get plenty of satirization onSaturday Night Live. The show has never shied away from taking aim at politicians, and we saw this especially put on display with the 2020 election. Various actors have portrayed Joe Biden and Donald Trump over the past several years, though Alec Baldwin managed to win an Emmy for his long-running take on the former president. There are rumors of Trump running again in 2024, somethingSNLwould no doubt have a field day with as well.
The newSNLalso kicked off with a cold open that focused on the rise of GOP candidates like Herschel Walker, Kari Lake, and Dr. Oz. You can stream the entire episode ofSNLonPeacock.
