Now that the title of Marvel and Sony’sSpider-Man reboothas been revealed asHomecoming, the cast is starting to heat up. Just this past week we heard thatMichael Keatonis in talks to play themain villain. Now, two young actors have joined this comic book adventure. And they help fill out Peter Parker’s high school class alongsideTom Hollandand pop sensationZendaya.
First up isOne Life to LivestarLaura Harrier, who takes on a key role inSpider-Man: Homecoming. Her character isn’t revealed, butThe Wraphints that she’ll be involved in Peter Parker’s high school life on some level. There is no further information regarding her casting.
Also joining the team isTony Revolori, who had a break out role inWes Anderson’sGrand Budapest Hotel. He also co-starred in the high school comedyDope.Revoloriwill be playing schoolyard enemy toPeter Parker, and he is named Manuel. But he’s not a villain, just an advisory much like Flash Thompson in the comics. Manuel doesn’t appear to be from the Marvel comic book upon which this title is based, and sounds like a character created specifically for the movie. No further details about his character have been released. It is known that the producers behindHomecomingwant a more ethnically diverse cast to make up Peter’s New York classmates.
Spider-Man: Homecomingis directed by Jon Watts, the man behind last summer’s indie sensationCop Car. Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker alongsideMarisa Tomeias Aunt May, both of whom are first introduced in this May’sCaptain America: Civil War. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo who wrote and directed last summer’sVacationreboot/sequel, are penning the script.
This latest reboot of thepopular Marvel superherowill follow Peter Parker during his high school years, and is likened to a John Hughes movie. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing. No specific plot details have leaked as of yet. It is rumored that the movie will feature both the villain Kraven the Hunter and The Vulture. It has not been revealed which villain Michael Keaton is in talks for. The movie arrives in theaters next summer.
