Many believedStan Leewould claim hisDeadpoolcameo to be his favorite. The man, after all, gets to play a DJ surrounded by beautiful exotic dancers at a gentlemen’s club. But alas, he’s chosenAvengers: Age of Ultronas the one cameo he cherishes the most. And now we may know why. Sure, he claimed to love the fact that gets to say his trademark catchphrase “Excelsior!” inAvengers 2. But there may be another reason why he went with that instead ofDeadpool. Over the weekend, the man behind Marvel comics finally revealed a little known secret about his time spent on set of theRyan Reynoldsblockbuster.
As it turns out,Stan Leewasn’t surrounded by buxom topless strippers at all. It just appeared that way through the magic of movies. And he’s none too happy about it. Stan the Man recently appeared on the Fandemonium NetworkYoutubechannel, where he finally spilled the beans about the way that particular scene was shot.
“I don’t know if I should tell you the truth about thatcameo. I was not in the topless dancing place. I did that in a studio and then they put it into the movie, and I’m damn mad about that!”
Stan Leehas appeared in nearly everyMarvel moviewith the exception of a few, like last year’sFantastic Fourreboot. He’s even said that’s why the movie bombed at the box office. At this point, fans going to a Marvel movie, especially one from the company’s own studio, expect to seeStanin some capacity. And he’s had a number of memorable ones in the past. TheDeadpoolcameo came as the man’s first of the year.
But it wasn’t long before he followed up his Academy Award-worthy turn as a Strip Club DJ with a much different role inCaptain America: Civil Waras a delivery man responsible for presenting a key piece of information. He also shows up in this past weekend’sX-Men: Apocalypse. And he’s already shot a cameo forDoctor Strange, opening this November. He also has three more cameos lined up for this year. He’s not sure what the movies are, but its speculated that he’s gearing up to shoot hisGuardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.cameo soon, and will also be present on the set ofSpider-Man: Homecoming.Deadpool 2is also rumored to shoot this fall. Here’s whatStan the Manhas to say about the rest of this year’s planned cameos.
“I’m going to…somewhere on the East Coast, Delaware or somewhere - where they’re shooting three cameos at one time. I’ve got to be there either next week or the week after, and I’m going to do three cameos for three different movies. Now, I don’t know what the movies are. I don’t know what the cameos are, but I know I’ll damn well be there.”
So, once again, it sounds like poorStan Leewill be isolated in his cameo shoots. Which is probably a real bummer for the man who loves getting to interact with the big Marvel stars of the day. It’s one of the reasons he callsAvengers: Age of Ultronhis favorite, as he actually got to share the screen withChris Evans' Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth’sThor.
