LucasFilm’sHall Hpanel atComic-Conearlier today was almost entirely devoted to the highly-anticipatedStar Wars: The Force Awakens, but one tiny nugget of information was released about the first highly-anticipatedStar Warsspinoff,Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. With the film set for release in December 2016, we already knew that production would be starting soon. Now LucasFilm PresidentKathleen Kennedyhas confirmed that principal photography begins onStar Wars Anthology: Rogue Onein just three short weeks. That pits the start date at August. However, this contradicts a report that surfaced before SDCC.

A detailed report from last week claimed thatStar Wars Anthology: Rogue Onehad already been in production for three weeks at Pinewood Studios in London, which was confirmed as the filming location back in November. Sources claimed that starFelicity Joneshad already shot her first scenes, and that crew members were seen bringing several trees into the studio, to shoot a jungle scene. A second report seemingly confirmed the jungle scenes, and that there would be some “scene-setting” on theDeath Star, with the spinoff redressing sets fromStar Wars: The Force Awakensthat apparently will “have fans agog.”

Naturally, the earlier reports were never confirmed, so ifLucasFilmpresidentKathleen Kennedysays shooting will begin in three weeks, it’s certainly reliable information.Star Wars Anthology: Rogue Onealso starsRiz Ahmed,Sam Claflin,Diego Luna,Ben MendelsohnandForest Whitaker, with the story centering on a group ofRebel Alliancesoldiers embarking on a mission to steal the original plans for the Death Star. It is also rumored to feature Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and some iconic Bounty Hunters. Hopefully we’ll have more details onStar Wars Anthology: Rogue Onesoon, including the full cast and the characters they’re playing, so stay tuned for more updates.
