Supermanis finally here, and the film is expected to rake it in at the box office, with some predictions putting it at a$200 million gross worldwidefrom the opening weekend. But, despite it preemptively being hailed as the blockbuster of the summer, the cast ofSupermanhaven’t made as much as you’d think from the film. A new report has revealed the paydays for the cast of the DCU’s first tentpole movie. David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), and Nicholas Hoult’s (Lex Luthor) pay was revealed in the report. While the initial figures might seem low, especially by superhero movie standards, there’s one big catch that could result in a massive payout for the leading trio.
The report comes from Puck’s Matthew Belloni, who revealed the very surprising paydays forSuperman’s cast. David Corenswet is arguably the standout star ofSuperman; after all, he plays the eponymous character, and likely will for the remainder of the DCU’s future. The actor, who previously starred inPearlandTwisters, has reportedly earned $750k from his starring role in the film. Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane in the movie, also reportedly earned $750k for her role. In the real world, $750k is life-changing money, but in terms of a Hollywood blockbuster, it’s peanuts. The biggest shock comes via Nicholas Hoult’s pay. The actor, who is no stranger to superhero projects, having played the Beast in Fox’sX-Menuniverse, reportedly earned a cool $2 million for playing Lex Luthor inSuperman. Maybe the extra money was to compensate for the discomfort of the bald cap.

David Corenswet’s ‘Superman’ Comes Face to Face With Lex Luthor in New Look at DCU Film
Plenty of characters appear in James Gunn’s movie, but fans have been anxiously waiting to see these two icons face off.
While their upfront pay might seem low compared to other superhero movies, especially with Robert Downey Jr. reportedly earning over$80 million for starring inAvengers: Doomsday, there is a catch. It was Downey himself who helped to popularize the back-end deal, where actors earn a percentage of the film’s profits. The report confirmed that a similar deal has been struck forSuperman’s leading trio. The exact figure wasn’t revealed, but Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Hoult will reportedly earn a significant bonus if the film is a success.
