Ted Lassomay be one of the most heartfelt television series ever. Thanks to its brilliant writing and acting, blending comedy and drama into one amazing and successful combination. This Apple TV + series is one of many on the platform that has brilliantlytapped into the human condition.
What makes the show so appealing are the characters that inhabit the world in which it is taking place. It is the positivitythat the cast of players, coaches, and families bring to AFC Richmond that is a testament to thecharacterof these characters. In a sea of heart, which character has the most? Let’s find out. WHISTLE!

11Jamie Tartt
Jamie Tartt out of all the characters in the series has perhaps the best character arch of all. Starting the series as the brash and cocky superstar of AFC Richmond, Jamie has to lose it all to find his way. However, when he does, it makes him one of the most caring players on the club. By losing his girlfriend, and his soccer career, and suffering through a continued strained relationship with his father, Jamie learns to care about more than just himself.
10Isaac McAdoo
Echoing some of the hardened characteristics of his former teammate and current coach, Roy Kent. Team captain and master barber, Isaac McAdoo, shows throughout the series an unbreakable loyalty and sense of caring for his teammates. Particularly so when fellow AFC Richmond player Colin Hughes comes out to the team following an altercation Isaac has with a fan, uttering derogatory comments. He may not be able to say it out loud, but Isaac loves his teammates.

9Trent Crimm
Trent Crimm, the Independent, starts the series as a somewhat antagonistic reoccurring character. He is particularly harsh on Coach Ted Lasso in his early days, and is the reporter who broke the story regarding Ted’s panic attacks in season two. However, after losing his job at The Independent for revealing his source to Ted, Trent joins the club in order to write a book about AFC Richmond and Ted. From there, Trent became a fan favorite by ingratiating himself to the team and helping Colin express his sexuality in a more public forum.
Often rough and rigid both on the pitch and off, Roy Kent has a particular soft spot for those closest to him. His undying love for his niece, commitment to his girlfriend Keely, and his befriending of former rival Jamie Tartt are all perfect examples of the heart shown by Roy throughout the series. He also loves a good cry after watching the classicNora Ephron movie,You’ve Got Mail.

7Dani Rojas
For Dani Rojas, ‘Fútbol is Life!’. Dani’s enthusiasm is off the charts, and his unselfish play and commitment to his teammates is an incredibly admirable trait. No matter the mood of the club, Dani is almost always there as the proudly enthusiastic standout. Watch out, however, as Dani can flip the switch on a teammate if they are on the opposing team, as his fellow AFC Richmond payer “Van Damme” found out in season three.
6Coach Beard
Joining Ted on his journey across the pond is his assistant Coach Beard. An often quiet and mysterious character, Beard serves as more than just one of Ted’s coaches. It is evident throughout the series that Ted and Beard are the best of friends, whose relationship dates back to their younger days. Beard has an unbreakable sense of commitment to his best friend and shows his protective nature during the Nathan Shelly debacle of season two. We could all use a Coach Beard in our lives.
5Rebecca Welton
Rebecca Welton begins the series as the heartbroken and somewhat vindictive owner of AFC Richmond following a divorce from her cheating ex-husband. Her hiring of Ted is simply a part of her plan to tank the one thing her ex loved most, the team.
In a brilliant turn of events, Ted is one of the characters who help Rebecca grow the most throughout the series to become the strong and independent person we see. Rebecca’s love for the team and all those involved with it grows as she does. She is also the first person to learn of and aid Ted through his panic attacks.

4Leslie Higgins
Leslie Higgins' heart can be measured in his unmatched kindness to everyone he encounters. Always wearing a friendly smile, Higgins is there for any and all. This is most evident in the Christmas dinner he and his family put on each year for AFC Richmond players who have no one else to spend the holiday with. This feminine Jr. wears his heart on his sleeve and everyone is all the better for it.

The dream of honoring his family and being the best player he can be is always at the forefront of his mind.
2Keeley Jones
Whether it is assisting AFC Richmond players as the public relations for the team, helping Rebecca to overcome her heartbreak, or working to get her former boyfriend Jamie Tartt out of a funk. Keely Jones is as unselfish of a character as there is on television.Juno Temple’s brilliant performancebrings the gem of a human being that is Keely Jones to life.
