After delivering one of the most controversial horror movie’s in years,Terrifier 2writer-directorDamien Leoneis preparing to do it all over again with two more movies, but says thatTerrifier 4will most likely be the final gory chapter in the story of Art the Clown, Victoria, The Pale Girl, and Sienna Shaw. Although it is hard to imagine that the future installments can be anywhere near as boundary-pushing as what has gone before, it seems that Leone is contemplating just how many movies it will take to tell the rest of the tale that has been chopping their way around his head.
Terrifier 2was one of several surprise box office horror hits of 2022, coming with a small budget, big ambitions and delivering a practical-effect-laden extravaganza of gore, jet-black humor, and something that was almost too graphic to watch but too intriguing to turn away from. Telling the second chapter in the story of Art the Clown, the crowdfunded movie saw the sadistically comical serial killer continuing to slaughter his way through Miles County, this time accompanied by the incredibly creepy Pale Girl, and came in at around two and a half hours long. Speaking toInsider, Leone explained that the finale of the saga could be told over two movies, withTerrifier 4being the last. He said:

“I am writing ‘Terrifier 3’ as we speak. I definitely want to make at least one more. There may be two to tell this story and tackle all the ideas that I have in my head. Because there’s a lot more to explore with Art the Clown, the pale girl, Victoria, and certainly Sienna as our final girl. We will be following her journey to the end of this franchise.”

Can Terrifier 2 Be Improved Upon, or Will More Sequels Be a Disappointment?
The escalation in violence, the scope of the story, and more gives Damien Leone an almost impossible task with his follow-up toTerrifier 2. The film turned the character of Art the Clown from a nasty, creeping horror character to a bone fide icon of the genre. In addition to that, the sequel also introduced The Pale Girl, a mysterious and eerie entity that seems to have been responsible for resurrecting Art, and Sienna, a new final girl for the genre. The expansion of these new characters will probably help set the sequels apart fromTerrifier 2, as simply trying to top the shock and gore value will probably end up in failure.
Originally, Leone suggested thatTerrifier 3could end up being even longer thanTerrifer 2,and once again, that would be something of a misstep, as trying to imagine something as intense as theTerrifierfranchise producing something that lasts over 3 hours may be too much even for the most diehard horror fans to sit through. With that in mind, Leonie’s teases of Art the Clown’s next outing being the scariest so far means that the fourth movie would have even more of a mountain to climb to surpass it.
