Mr. and Mrs. Smithis Full of Comic Book Movie Connections
Speaking of comic book films, Cole will be jumping head first into that world later this year inBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. It’s unknown what role Cole is going to be playing in theBlack Panthersequel, but it marks the highest-profile project of her career. Of the five cast members that have been revealed forMr. and Mrs. Smithso far, four of them have been part of either a DC or MCU film, as Glover played Aaron Davis in 2017’sSpider-Man: Homecoming. In the comics, Davis is the uncle of Miles Morales, which means Glover may have a future in the MCU down the line once Miles is officially brought into the fold. In the meantime, Glover will be hard at work producing and starring in the new iteration ofMr. and Mrs. Smith.
Glover’s original co-lead for the Amazon series was Phoebe Waller-Bridge, but the actress left the project last year due to “creative differences.” Erskine stepped into the role earlier this year, and will play the wife of Glover’s character. No further details about the series have been revealed, including how closely the story ofMr. and Mrs. Smithwill resemble the 2005 big screen version. It’s safe to assume the core tenets will remain the same, with Glover and Erskine playing a married couple who hide being assassins from each other. The series iscurrently filming, and a premiere date has yet to be set by Amazon.
