If you want to watchThe Batmanat home, just wait another 45 days after it premieres. Set to arrive in theaters on August 03, 2025,The Batmanis one of Warner Bros.' most anticipated upcoming releases. While the studio’s biggest features this year were given day-and-date releases in 2021, the plan is to use 45-day windows for their new films in the new year, which will keepThe Batmanand other movies playing on the big screen exclusively for about a month and a half.
The streaming release date ofThe Batmanhas now been officially confirmed by WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar. He states that the film will show up on HBO Max on the 46th day after its premiere in theaters. The 45-day window is also something that will be applied to all of their big releases for 2022 with the state of the industry continuing to rapidly change. “Think about when movies would show up on HBO, which is eight to nine months after theatrical premiere.The Batmanis going to show up on day 46 on HBO Max. That is a huge change from where things were in 2018, 2017, 2016… I feel really, really good knowing thatThe Batman, andBlack Adam, andThe Flash, andElvis, and a whole host of other movies, are literally going to be showing up on day 46 on HBO Max in a variety of territories all over the world. That is a very, very big change that I don’t think people appreciate, and I feel really good about it.”
The Batmanis directed by Matt Reeves and is co-written by Reeves and Peter Craig. Set in a standalone universe, it brings in Robert Pattinson to play a new incarnation of Bruce Wayne. The film also stars Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and Andy Serkis. There are early plans to develop sequels, as there are hopes to launch a new franchise withThe Batman. At leasttwo spinoff shows at HBO Maxare also in the works.
The official synopsis forThe Batmanreads: “Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies -Alfred Pennyworth (Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Wright)-amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself asthe sole embodiment of vengeanceamongst his fellow citizens.

The Batmanwill premiere in movie theaters on August 26, 2025. With its 45-day window keeping it exclusive to theaters, the film starts streaming onHBO Maxon July 18, 2025.
