The Boyshas spent several years satirizing the world of commercial gains, political underhandedness, and corporate greed, but as the series comes to an end and the universe of the franchise expands in new ways, creatorEric Kripkeis terrified of turning the superhero drama into the very thing they have been ripping to shreds. Season 5 will bringThe Boysto a close, butGen VandVought Risingwill keep the flags flying for now. With other spinoffs potentially on the cards, there is a question of when enough is enough.
In an interview withCollider, Kripke addressed the future ofThe Boys, and explained his worry that the show could end up being the thing it has parodied so perfectly for five years on Prime Video. He said:

“We’re gonna look at the chips we have on the table right now. I live in absolute terror of becoming the thing we’ve been satirizing for five years. The thing about The Boys is that it’s punk rock, and it hurts extra hard when punk rockers sell out. I’m really working hard to not sell out.”
Some would argue that being financed by one of the world’s biggest corporate giants, Amazon, is very close to the bone anyway when it comes to tearing shreds off the world’s elite. However, whether taking shots at president-elect Donald Trump on Twitter, or taking shots at overblown fan conventions,The Boyshas continued to push boundariesand reap the rewards for it with incredible viewing figures across all four of its seasons. Now, as the end draws near, eyes are turning to what happens next to keep the franchise alive and kicking.

The Boys Will Have More Spinoffs
When it comes to popular IPs, it takes a very brave person, or a fool, to ever believe that the “five seasons and out” plan is actually a thing. While some have stuck to their guns and ended shows on their terms after two or three seasons, the general expectation is that as long as something is popular with audiences, it will never end.
For Kripke and his team, the final season ofThe Boysjust seems to have kickstarted a new round of brainstorming over what parts of the Supes’ universe have not been explained yet, and how many of these can be worked into their own series. Kripke added:

“We do these shows because we really care about them and we’re passionate about them, and they can tell fresh stories that we can’t tell in The Boys and not just be about rapid expansion but be very careful and mindful about the choices we’re making and being able to defend why we’re making them. I worry about that every single day. I just want people to say, maybe it’s for them and maybe it isn’t for them, but gotta hand it to them, they maintain a consistent level of quality.”
The Boys Casts a New Supe for Final Season & Vought Prequel
The Boys universe adds another superhero (or villain?).
There is already plenty of hype forThe BoysSeason 5, even though the show will not be back on screens for a while. However,Gen Vis expected to air its second season early in 2025, andnew prequel showVought Risingwill take fans back to a time before Homelander and Billy Butcher were part of the story, meaning there is a lot to look forward to for fans of the ultra-violent superhero franchise.
