A-Train’s character arc inThe BoysSeason 4 was a roller coaster of redemption and betrayal. After years of committing wrongful acts, it finally offered him a chance toput things (at least, somewhat) right. And he grabbed it (fortunately) by aiding Hughie, Butcher, and the gang as an informant within The Seven. However, in the finale, his efforts were exposed,which left him in a precarious position. The last we see of him is in the Vought Tower, where his only ally, Ashley, tells him to take his tracking chip out and run to where Homelander cannot find him.
Now,a new update from Vought International’s official handle onX/Twitterteases an intriguing development for the upcoming season.The tweet announces that A-Train has been “deployed overseas” for a top-secret mission, and while more details cannot be disclosed at the moment, they’re wishing him good luck. Known for their shady dealings, Vought International may not be being entirely honest here.
“Today, Vought can confirm that A-Train is being deployed overseas effective immediately. We have to keep all details confidential, both for his safety and the safety of the free world. Let’s wish him good luck and especially, God speed!”
Played by Jessie T. Usher, A-Train has been vital toThe Boys’narrative from the get-go. He was introduced as a Supe with superhuman speed whose addiction to Compound V led to a series of events that kick-started the series. From accidentally killing Hughie’s girlfriend, to having to face his family and community’s disappointment, to becoming a reluctant informant for The Boys, his character has evolved significantly. Now thathe has “seemingly” vanished again, fans are left speculating about his fate in the fifth and final season.
This Isn’t The First Time Vought Has Covered Up Supe Disappearances
While Vought’s message may seem entirely believable to the masses withinThe Boysuniverse, fans know better. The corporation has a long history of covering up the fates of its superheroes to control their public image and this isn’t the first time Vought has made an announcement to foil the disappearance of one. In Season 1, Translucent was kidnapped and eventually killed by Hughie, but Season 2 opens with Homelander giving a eulogy for the fallen hero and claiming that he was murdered by El Diablo while on a mission. Similarly, Black Noir, whosetragic death at the hands of Homelanderis something we’re all familiar with, was simply replaced by another Supe – one who speaks.

A-Train’s narrative seems to be in the same vein for now. And while fans wonder whether he is really on a mission or if this is just another ploy from Vought to hide the truth, showrunner Eric Kripke has teased several deaths for Season 5, all of which will be “richly deserved.” He toldComicBookin a previous interview:
“We have a certain sense of who lives and who dies. We don’t have it all totally figured out, but you get to do the final season of the show, and you get to go out on your own terms, so not everyone’s making it through.”
With A-Train’s absence and Kripke’s suggestion that no character is safe,The BoysSeason 5 is shaping up to be an intense and unpredictable installment.
