After several years of languishing in development and production delays,The Crowreboot is finally getting ready to spread its wings. The Wrapreports that directorCorin Hardyhas signed a new holding deal with Relativity Media, withThe Crowset to become the company’s first project after it emerges from itsbankruptcyproceedings. Principal photography is now scheduled to begin in March 2016.

Shortly after Relativity filed for bankruptcy in July, the production company claimed that they were still moving ahead with a fall production start onThe Crow, but that never happened. Just a few weeks earlier, starJack Hustonbecame the latest in a long line of stars to back out of theEric Dravenrole, followingLuke Evans,James McAvoyandBradley Cooper. The studio still hasn’t found a replacement forJack Hustonyet, withJessica Brown Findlaycurrently the only cast member attached as Shelly Webster, Eric Draven’s fiancee.

Back in September, producer Edward R. Pressman filed an objection to the inclusion ofThe Crowas part of Relativity’s assets, claiming the project was “in danger of losing the services of the director of the picture, who is widely regarded as a key creative element.” The injunction claimed that Relativity had spent more than $7 million onThe Crowso far, including the purchase of options on the franchise rights, which would revert back to Edward R. Pressman if production doesn’t start three years after the agreement was first signed, which was nearly two years ago. If filming does start in March 2016, Relativity will no longer be in danger of losing the rights.

SecuringCorin Hardyis a big step in ensuring theproductionmoves forward, but Relativity still has to find a star and round out the rest of the cast in just a few short months.Corin Hardywill direct from a script byAlex TseandJesse Wigutow. Comic book creatorJames O’Barrhas stated in the past that the script is much more faithful to his original comics than the original 1994 adaptation starringBrandon Lee, but no specific story details have been released at this time.

Corin Hardy’s debut feature The Hallow premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and will be released intheatersand on VOD formats this weekend. With this reboot seemingly moving forward (again), who do you think should play Eric Draven? After years of delays, do you thinkThe Crowwill actually start production as planned this coming March? Stay tuned for further updates on this highly-anticipated reboot.
