A musical spoof of the hit NBC comedy seriesThe Officeis touring across the United States next year and it just might be coming to a stage near you. CalledThe Office! A Musical Parody, the stage show is directed by Donald Garverick and written by Bob and Tobly McSmith, whose past musicals include parodies ofFull House,Saved by the Bell, andFriends. As of now, the show is currently showing on Broadway in New York, and has many tour dates scheduled across the United States in the coming months of 2020.
The Office! A Musical Parodyis set on a “typical morning at Scranton’s third largest paper company until, for no logical reason, a documentary crew begins filming the lives of the employees ofDunder Mifflin.” While Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, and the other stars ofThe Officewon’t be on stage, we can expect to see many of our favorite characters like Michael, Pam, Jim, Dwight, Kelly, Andy, and Creed represented in the show. Many of the series' most memorable moments will be featured as well, including the Dundie Awards, Prison Mike, and even Kevin dropping the giant pot of chili.
Based on the UK series of the same name, the American version ofThe Officedebuted on NBC in 2005. Presented as a mockumentary, the story followed the lives of the employees of the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. With an ensemble cast, the show featured the likes ofSteve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Ed Helms, B. J. Novak, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Leslie David Baker, Briam Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton, and Phyllis Smith. The show ultimately ran for 201 episodes across nine seasons, bowing out with its final episode in 2013.
