Dwayne “The Rock” Johnsonis pretty much thebiggest movie star on the planet, so when he posts something on Instagram, it is a big deal. Following that logic, todayJohnsonposted something on Instagram, and it is definitely a big deal. The Rockdecided to share with his fans a first look at his character in the upcomingJumanjisequel, who we now know is named Dr. Bravestone.

Johnsonposted the piece of concept art to hisInstagramon Thursday morning, displaying his veryIndiana Jones-esque character. The icing on the cake is that the picture was plastered with text saying “The Smoldering Dr. Bravestone,” which is pretty accurate, and pretty much what we expected whenThe Rockwas cast inJumanji. Here is whatJohnsonhad to say when he posted the picture.

“EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: Concept art of my #JUMANJI character. “The Smoldering” Dr. Bravestone. (not sure where my pecs went;). This is gonna be fun.. Me, @kevinhart4real, Jack Black,@NickJonas and the Ginger Assassin@karengillanofficial can’t wait to “play the game that plays you”. #JUMANJI#DrBravestone #KingOfTheSmolder#TheAdventureContinues.”

There was some hesitation when it was announced a newJumanjimovie was being made, but many concerns were put to rest when it was revealed that the movie would indeed be a sequel andnot a reboot. As mentioned in his Instagram post,Johnsonwill be joined by hisCentral Intelligenceco-starKevin Hart,Jack Black,Nick JonasandDoctor WhostarKaren Gillan, whoJohnsonlovingly referred to as “the Ginger Assassin.” As of right now, it doesn’t look like any of the stars from the first movie are set to return, but t has been said that the movie will pay tribute to the lateRobin Williams, who starred in the original.

While we don’t know any specific plot details for theJumanjisequel, butThe Smoldering Dr. Bravestonekind of makes it look like the movie will be exploring the world inside the game, as opposed to the world outside the game, which the first movie focused on. Also, the fact that they are shooting in Hawaii would also lend some credibility to that. It also looks likeKaren Gillancould be playing an older version ofKirsten Dunst’s character, andNick Jonascould possibly be playing an older version ofBradley Pierce’s character from theoriginal movie. That is purely speculative, but would make sense.

Jake Kasdan, director ofOrange County,Walk HardandSex Tapeis helming theJumanjisequel, with a script fromScott Rosenberg. The originalJumanjiwas a big hit at the time in 1995, making $262 million worldwide from a $65 million production budget. Sony is planning to release theJumanji sequelon June 23, 2025.
