Long beforeFantastic Fourhit theaters last month, 20th Century Fox announced a August 12, 2025 release date forThe Fantastic Four 2.Fantastic Fouris considered a flop in the U.S., taking in just $54.4 million domestically, but it still is faring better internationally, taking in $101.2 million. 20th Century Fox recently revealed they are still committed to the sequel, but it seems highly unlikely thatJosh Trankwill be back to direct. During an interview withMilwaukee Magazine, filmmakerTommy Wiseaurevealed that he is interested in taking on the sequel.

“You know, I told you I saw thisFantastic Four… it just… I’m not being critical- let me put it this way, I like it, I did enjoy it number one. Number two, it’s too bad they didn’t call me, that’s all I want to say and I rest my case. That’s all I can tell you.”

Despite the studio’s alleged commitment toFantastic Four 2, they have not officially announced if the sequel has been green lit, most likely waiting for thesuperhero movieto complete its theatrical run. It isn’t known if they plan on bringing screenwriterSimon Kinberg, but given reports of directorJosh Trank’s erratic behavior on the set, it seems clear he won’t be invited back to take the helm.Tommy Wiseaurevealed that he hopes this interview could help him get the Fantastic Four 2 job.

“Good response in Europe though, that’s my understanding, but it’s too bad they didn’t call me, that’s my point. Maybe if there’s a sequel, you know. You know, maybe your article gets me that job, who knows what will happen.”

It isn’t known when we may hear any official word about whether or notThe Fantastic Four 2will move forward or not, but do you think Tommy Wiseau would be a good candidate to direct? The filmmaker is best known for his cult classicThe Room, but it isn’t known if he has other projects in development at this time.
