Today we have word fromThe Hollywood Reporterthat the actor is in talks to join his first movie since the accident, New Line Cinema’sFist Fight.

The plot has been compared to the 1987cult classiccomedy Three O’Clock High, where a new kid challenges a nerd to a fight after school gets out at 3 o’clock.Fist Fighttakes that premise and switches it up with two adult teachers.

Charlie Dayis playing an introverted educator who gets challenged to a fight by his colleague (Ice Cube), who thinks he’s trying to get him fired. While no further plot details were given,The Hollywood Reporterdescribes their confrontation as an “epic fist fight.” The cast also includesDean NorrisandJillian Bell, who are playing the school’s principal and guidance counselor, respectively. IfTracy Morgan’s deal goes through, he will play a coach at the school.

Richie Keen is making his featuredirectorial debutwithFist Fight, working from a script byVan RobichauxandEvan Susser.Shawn Levy, Billy Rosenberg and Max Greenfield are producing for 21 Laps, although it isn’t known when production will get under way.Tracy Morganwas last seen inTop FiveandAccidental Love.
