Kevin Bacon has announced that the highly anticipatedTremorsTV series has been cancelled. Bacon returned to his role for the pilot, and everybody involved had high hopes about this new show because of his willingness to revisit the franchise. But apparently, Syfy was not pleased with what they saw. However, the pilot has been filmed, so we could possibly see it somewhere down the line. It’s also possible that another network could pick up theTremorsreboot TV series as well. Netflix always sounds like a nice home.
Kevin Bacon announced that theTremorstelevision series had been canceled on his Instagram page, and he is not happy about it. According to Bacon, this is the only character he’s ever played that he thought about revisiting. Additionally, fans of the cult movie were very excited to see the actor’s return to the franchise. Bacon had this to say.
“#Tremors Sad to report that my dream of revisiting the world of Perfection will not become a reality. Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward. Thanks to ourkiller castand everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard. And always keep one eye out for GRABOIDS!”
TheTremorsTV reboot series was going to take place 25 years after the events of the original movie. And it would havereunited Kevin Bacon with his original co-star Fred Ward. Bacon recently said, “I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years?” When talking about his character. The show was going to center on the killer worms coming back to wreak havoc on the Nevada desert town, which forced an aged,alcoholic Valentine McKee(Kevin Bacon) to save humanity (again).
This isn’t the first time that the idea of aTremorsTV show has been kicked around. The Syfy network developed a series in 2003 that lasted 13 episodes before being canceled. And in 2015, anotherTremorsshow was announced, but never came into fruition. There were high hopes for the new series based on Kevin Bacon’s return to the Valentine McKee character, so it seems a bit odd that it was not picked up after the pilot episode. It’s not every day that a revival series that contains one of the original stars gets axed before it can even be shown to audiences.
TheTremorspilot was directed by Vincenzo Natali and written by Andrew Miller. As for actually getting to see the aforementioned pilot, it is unclear if it will ever see the light of day, which is a big disappointment to all the fans who have beenimpatiently waiting to see Kevin Bacon back with the franchise. However, it seems that Bacon is just as bummed as anyone else that theTremorsreboot won’t be happening anytime soon.
