With production on Showtime’sTwin Peaksrevival set to begin next month, the pieces are all starting to fall into place for this highly-anticipated series.TV Linereports today that composerAngelo Badalamenti, who came up with the original Twin Peaks' haunting music, will be back for the new ShowtimeTV series. The composer is reportedly already working on a new theme song, although a rep for Showtime would not comment on his involvement.
Original series starsSherilyn FennandSheryl Lee, who played Audrey Horne andLaura Palmer, hinted during a May Q&A session thatAngelo Badalamentiwill be back to provide the score, but his involvement was never confirmed until now.Kyle MacLachlanis currently the only cast member confirmed to return, but there has been talk ofSherilyn Fenn,Sheryl LeeandDana Ashbrook(Bobby Briggs) also reprising their roles. The show’s original cast also included Michael Ontkean (Sheriff Harry S. Truman), Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Richard Beymer (Benjamin Horne), Lara Flynn Boyle (Donna Hayward), Warren Frost (Dr. Will Hayward) and Peggy Lipton (Norma Jennings).
Original series creatorsDavid LynchandMark Frostwrote one very long script for the Twin Peaks revival series, which will be shot as one massive “movie” that will be cut into individual episodes. We reported in May that the show will expand from the originally-planned nine-episode run to 18 episodes. However, Showtime president David Nevins clarified during the TCA press tour this month that the exact number of episodes won’t be known until after filming is complete.
It was also revealed in July that theTwin Peaks revivalwill most likely be delayed until the year 2017. Showtime had originally planned on debuting the series in 2016, exactly 25 years after the original show went off the air. The initial premiere date was meaningful to fans because, in the show’s final season in 1991, Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) told Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) that she would see him again in 25 years. David Nevins added that it may be possible that the show could still debut in 2016, but he didn’t want to rush the production.
Aside fromTwin Peaks,Angelo Badalamentihas worked with directorDavid Lynchon movies such asMulholland Dr.,Lost HighwayandBlue Velvet.
