Though a date has yet to be set for the release of Season 2 ofTwisted Metal, there’s just been a huge update that hintsthe series could be returning sooner rather than later.Twisted Metaldebuted onPeacockin mid-2023 with much fanfare, and was quickly renewed for a second season following its success. At the time of its release, the series became Peacock’smost binged-watched original show ever, with viewers consuming at least three episodes in one sitting, and others the entire 10-episode run.
Thanks toAnthony Mackie, we now know that Season 2 ofTwisted Metalhas begun filming after the star shared a series of photos on hisInstagramaccount celebrating the news.“So excited to be back with my partner in Metal! Let’s get Twisted in Season 2!!!,“the caption reads. Mackie includes photos that show him and co-star Stephanie Beatriz sitting in their opposing chairs and having fun, along with a photo of himself from the Season 1 premiere which brings into focus the character of Sweet Tooth, who is also expected to return in the upcoming season. Based on the hit video game series of the same name, Mackie stars inTwisted Metalas John Doe, a man tasked with delivering a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic United States wasteland with the promise of a better life at the end of his journey. Along the way, he meets Beatriz’s character of Quiet, and the two form an unlikely partnership to battle marauders, corrupt former cops, and a psycho clown embodied by current AEW wrestler Samoa Joe, and voiced byArrested Development’sWill Arnett. With an audience score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, Twisted Metal is undoubtedly one of the mostsuccessful video game adaptationsin recent memory.
What Can We Expect in Twisted Metal Season 2?

While plot details remain under wraps forTwisted MetalSeason 2, one can glean from the finale of Season 1 where the series is going. After John Doe rebukes Raven’s (Neve Campbell) offer to remain in the settlement of New San Francisco, she holds him at gunpoint, demanding his participation in an upcoming racing tournament held by Calypso. The mysterious villain will be portrayed in Season 2 byBarryfavorite Anthony Carrigan.
Based on those events, it’s easy to see thatTwisted MetalSeason 2 will look to bring the infamous titular tournament to life, but beyond that, who can say? It’s already been reported that new characters such as Dollface,Axel, and Mr. Grimm will be featured prominently in the show’s sophomore outing, but as to how they will fit into the overall plot remains to be seen. We know that Dollface is Doe’s sister, and currently has Quiet in her grasp, but what she wants beyond that is anyone’s guess.

One thing is for certain:Twisted Metalwill certainly not disappoint viewers when it comes to heart-racing action sequences that are sure to be even bigger in Season 2. While Season 1 managed to set the bar pretty high, it’s no doubt that creators Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith will present longtime fans of the games with even bigger set pieces, more collisions, and a new crop of baddies that will only serve to further our love of the series, and hopefully lead to a Season 3.
