Riddick 4has been in development for a long time now, but the latest addition to Vin Diesel’sPitch Blackfranchise seems to be moving forward and some new concept art has given a look at the kind of action fans can expect from the sequel.Vin Dieselhas been pretty busy in the years since his last run out as Richard B Riddick, the murderer turned anti-hero who made his debut back in 2000. With hisFast & Furiousfranchiseand potentially his involvement in Marvel’sGuardians of the Galaxyfilms coming to an end, it looks like he is looking to resurrect the popular character for the first time in over a decade.
Vin Diesel first played the character of Riddick inPitch Black, and he reprised his role in TheChronicles of Riddickin 2004 and then again inRiddickalmost ten years later. With the third movie in the franchise seeming to find a good level of budget vs box office returns and some decent reviews it is surprising that it has taken so long for a fourth movie push on. Recently, Diesel has been actively teasing the new addition to the franchise, and a new piece of concept art showing him in action as Riddick is his latest offering. You can check it out below.

Riddick 4will come with the subtitle of Furya, but despite Diesel having been sharing script pages, storyboards and production updates, there is generally not much known about the movie other than it does seem to be still on the actor’s radar.

Will Riddick 4 Actually Get Made, and Where Will It Debut?
Unlike the mega-blockbusterFast & Furiousmovies, Vin Diesel’s Riddick films have never quite managed to take off.Pitch Blackwas a reasonable enough hit, but the vastly expanded budget of the subsequent movies gave them a huge mountain to climb in order to become profitable. With reviews being mixed at best, the fan base of the franchise failed to grow as expected, leaving future movies in limbo.
Vin Diesel first began discussing a potential fourth Riddick movie back in 2019. The working title ofRiddick 4: Furyagives a reference to the home planet of the character, which seemed to suggest that Riddick’s backstory would play an important part of the new movie, and could pay off teases that were laid down in 2013’sRiddick.
According to the latest details, as well as Diesel reprising his titular role, writer-director David Twohy will be returning with the same duties on the belated sequel. The movie is only in the development stage, meaning that it will still be a few years before the film is ready to go, if it makes it that far. Having not set the box office alight with its previous entries, there could be a strong argument for the movie to make its debut on a streaming platform. Peacock and HBO Max are currently hosting the first three movies in the franchise, and while HBO Max’s future is uncertain, Peacock have been heavily investing in new content, and could be willing to take a chance onRiddick 4when the time comes.
