AMC’sThe Walking Deadis easily one of the biggest shows on TV, pulling in monster ratings that even beat most primetime network shows on Sunday nights. Any series that huge has a massive and colorful fan base, although have a fan base that huge also has its drawbacks. Back in December, we reported thatThe Walking DeadstarNorman Reeduswas actually bit by a fan at the Walker Stalker Con in New Jersey. Last night, while promoting his new movieTriple 9, in theaters tomorrow, the actor shed some light on this strange encounter onJimmy Kimmel Live!.
“We started off and she said, ‘Sometimes, I like to pretend that we’re married.’ To tell you the truth, I was so tired at the point it didn’t even register that she said that. We took this picture and she sort of morphed into a werewolf. She kinda started to shake like that, and then she went up like this and kinda howled. And then she came down and bit me on the breast, the chest. And howled again. I kind of went, ‘Ow.’ AndMichael Rookerwas there and went, ‘What the f–k was that?’ And then a couple of nice officers tackled her to the ground. She was escorted out. And she came outside and went ‘What happened?’ And they said ‘Ma’am, you just bit Norman, and she said ‘I did?'”
Norman Reeduswent on to describe the scene as being similar to an iconicTotal Recallscene, whereArnold Schwarzeneggeris disguised as a woman with a robotic head. The unnamed woman in question later apologized over social media, claiming she “didn’t know what came over me,” after her actions got her kicked out of theWalkerStalker Con, where she lost two more photo ops with the actor, at $100 apiece. The actor didn’t press charges, and took the whole incident in stride, later posting a photo on his Instagram, where he’s wearing a shirt that says “Don’t Bite Me.”
As crazy as that incident was, it may be even worse on the fans if the actor’s character was bit on the show. His character Daryl Dixon doesn’t appear inRobert Kirkman’s originalcomic books, and he was created specifically for the series, along with his older brother Merle, played byMichael Rooker. Since he doesn’t have a story that was previously told in the comics, it’s certainly possible that he could be killed off at any time, but that seems unlikely, given how popular he is.
