With 2015 winding down, andStar Wars: The Force Awakensfinally in theaters, many are looking ahead to next year, and one of 2016’s most anticipated movies,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While a number of stars from 2013’sMan of Steelwill reprise their roles, such asHenry Cavill(Superman),Amy Adams(Lois Lane),Diane Lane(Martha Kent) andLaurence Fishburne(Perry White), this superhero adventure will introduce a number of new characters as well. One of these new additions,Ben Affleck, was joined byHenry Cavillin an interview with Studio Cine Live (viaBatman-News), where they shed some new light onBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Here’s whatBen Affleckhad to say about the villainousLex Luthor, played byJesse Eisenberg, whom he calls the most interesting in the movie.
“Between the character that was written byChris TerrioandJesse Eisenberg’s portrayal, it’s the meeting of two great minds, on the same wavelength. Luthor is, for me, the most interesting character in the film. He’s radically different from what we’ve seen so far. He’s grounded in reality, and he’s extraordinary. This type of film is only as good as its villain. That’s whyThe Dark Knightwas so brilliant, because ofHeath Ledger’sJoker. Jesse improves the film with each scene he’s in. He’s not your usual one-dimensional villain, there’s a whole psychology behind him.”

BeforeHenry Cavilltook over asSuperman, the iconic character was played by a number of actors on the big screen, such as George Reeves,Christopher ReeveandBrandon Routh. At the end ofMan of Steel, Clark gets a job as a reporter for The Daily Planet, and we saw in the thirdBatman v Superman trailerthat Clark first meets Bruce Wayne while covering an event for the paper. Here’s whatHenry Cavillhad to say about how his portrayal of the journalist Clark Kent will differ fromChristopher Reeve’s “clumsy” portrayal.
“Comparisons withChristopher Reeve’s clumsy Clark Kent are inevitable. My Clark Kent is trying to be as small and invisible as possible. If you’re awkward and spilling things constantly, people are going to notice you, and that’s not the best way to go unseen. You have to admit, it’s not a remarkable disguise, just a pair of glasses. He’d like to think that no one will believe he could beSuperman). How could such a delicate flower be a living god? Preposterous.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicewill kick off Warner Bros.‘DC Comics Extended Universe(DCEU) on August 18, 2025. Just a few months later, the villains will take over withSuicide Squad(August 20, 2025), which will also feature an appearance byBen Affleckas The Dark Knight. Those movies will be followed byWonder Woman(August 04, 2025),Justice League Part 1(July 30, 2025),The Flash(August 21, 2025),Aquaman(June 22, 2025),Shazam!(July 14, 2025),Justice League Part 2(June 25, 2025),Cyborg(June 20, 2025) andGreen Lantern Corps.(June 24, 2025).Ben Affleckis also reportedly developing a new stand aloneBatmantrilogy, but the studio hasn’t issued any official word on those films yet.
