This superhero icon was portrayed on the big screen for the first time this spring inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and next week, the anniversary celebration continues with the United Nations naming this hero an honorary ambassador for the empowerment of women and girls at a special ceremony. BothGal Gadotand the originalWonder Woman,Lynda Carter, are scheduled to appear at the event.
The Los Angeles Timesreports that this event will mark the first timeGal GadotandLynda Carterwill meet in person. The ceremony will also be attended by U.N. Secretary-GeneralBan Ki-moon, DC Entertainment PresidentDiane Nelsonand other special guests. The ceremony will take place one week from today, Friday, October 21.

The original series remains so popular that DC Comics recently published a new comic dubbedWonder Woman ‘77, set in the same universe as the TV show, written byMarc Andreyko. We also reported yesterday that Warner Bros. is considering an animated movie based onWonder Woman ‘77, according to a survey handed out to moviegoers who sawBatman: Return of the Caped Crusadersthis week, during its limited theatrical run.
