While its inner workings might not be as impressive as the splendor of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, the Warner Bros. promotional machine is hard at work… cranking out content. Timothée Chalamet makes his debut as the titular character inWonkathis December, and Warner Bros. Pictures released a number of clips to market the musical fantasy. In the scene, Wonka (Chalamet) captures an Oompa-Loompa (Hugh Grant). Fans get a good look at what is the chocolate maker’s first encounter with a native of Loompaland. Another alum of the Willy Wonka lore, Slugworth (Paterson Joseph), declares Wonka’s Hoverchocs “the absolute 100% worst.” What Slugworth doesn’t realize, until it’s too late, is that the hoverfly, which is included in the chocolate, cherry and marshmallow treat, will make those who eat the candy actually hover! And Slugworth, Prodnose (Matt Lucas) and Fickelgruber (Mathew Baynton) all begin to take flight after ingesting Wonka’s weird and wonderful chocolate.

Pictures didn’t stop there, as the studio released yet another never-before-seen look at the upcomingWonkafilm. In the third clip, which is titledTry One, Mr. Wonka reveals the delicious contents of his one-of-a-kind travel factory. Check out the footage below:
Wonka is stunned to learn that his new friend, Noodle (Calah Lane), has never had chocolate before. So, he quickly makes her up a yummy treat using silver linings from condensed thunderclouds, and the inventor then adds some liquid sunlight. It’s a heart-warming scene that reveals the burgeoning friendship between Wonka and the young orphan. One YouTuber, @ValentinaSimmons, pointed out Chalamet’s acting in the video’s comments section:

At the time of this writing,Wonkais forecast to only make $20 millionduring its opening weekend. Perhaps that has something to do with why Warner Bros. Pictures released all the new clips. But Warner Bros. wasn’t done yet, as the studio also dropped a short but insightful behind-the-scenes featurette in which Chalamet refers toWonkaas a “dream project.” An amazing amount of never-before-seen footage is included in the two-minute video, and director Paul King describes the inner workings of young Wonka and the actor portraying him in the prequel. King says:
This is Willy before the chocolate factory. Timothée has the most extraordinary quality. He captures the essence of Wonka back when he was young and wide-eyed… and full of hope and optimism.
What’s wonderful about King’s description of Wonka is that it’s quite similar to the character of Charlie Bucket in author Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s novel,Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Perhaps that is why Wonka (Gene Wilder) eventually gives his chocolate factory to Charlie (Peter Ostrum) in the 1971 filmWilly Wonka & the Chocolate Factory: Charlie reminds Wonka of himself at that age.
