With just a few more days left until 2015 comes to an end, 2016 is promising to be even bigger at the box office. One of the most highly-anticipated releases of 2016 is 20th Century Fox’sX-Men: Apocalypse, which hits theaters next May and brings the currentX-Mentrilogy to a close, following 2011’sX-Men: First Classand last year’sX-Men: Days of Future Past. Today we have a new piece of concept art fromX-Men: Apocalypse, courtesy ofEntertainment Weekly, along with new details from directorBryan Singer.

X-Men: Apocalypse, which wrapped production in August, is set in 1983, 10 years after the events ofX-Men: Days of Future Past. The story centers on the villainous Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), who is awakened after thousands of years of slumber, as he assembles his Four Horsemen,Psylocke(Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender). Magneto has been living in exile afterX-Men: Days of Future Past, and directorBryan Singerrevealed that he will be more powerful than ever inX-Men: Apocalypse, which is teased in the new concept art.

“One ofApocalypse’s many powers is he can imbue other mutants with greater ones. Magneto is demonstrating a small taste of what he can do now. Magneto is already enormously powerful…. Now Apocalypse gives him powers far beyond what we’ve seen before.”

After Professor X (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) learn about Apocalypse’s plans, they put together a team of mutants to stop him from going forward.X-Men: Apocalypseincludes a slew of new cast members playing younger versions of previously-established characters. Along withAlexandra Shipp’s Storm andBen Hardy’s Angel, the superhero adventure starsSophie Turneras Jean Grey,Tye Sheridanas Cyclops,Kodi Smit-McPheeas Nightcrawler andLana Condoras Jubilee.
